Cooktops

The heart of any kitchen should rightly be the stove. This is where all the cooking magic that you create comes to life. But ask yourself, just how old is your current stove? Are you getting the most cooking benefits you can from your cooktop? Can you depend on the cooking temperature? Maybe it is time to consider treating yourself to a new cooktop.

Getting a New Cooktop

Getting a new cooktop doesn't mean you have to remodel your entire kitchen, but it can certainly make cooking your meals a more pleasurable experience. There are companies like Bosch, Amana and Premier who have developed an amazing assortment of range cooktops that are of the highest quality and dependability. You'll be amazed at how much a new cook top can do for enhancing any cooking experience. Does this mean replacing the entire stove? Not at all. Just like changing a hat or getting a new haircut for yourself, you can swap out your current cooktop for a brand new, more efficient model.

Cooktop Features

As with everything in your kitchen, obtaining the maximum benefit in the minimum amount of space is essential. The same can be said for the cooking space on a particular cooktop. Yes, they typically come with four burners but there are some cooktops that have five burners. This might mean a large central burner which is perfectly suited for large pots filled with soups, stews or water for pasta.

Perhaps you might consider the benefits of having a cooktop with a built-in grill. There are many models of cooktops that use their fifth burner space for a grill plate option. This is terrific for grilling steaks, burgers, or fish. It's also perfect for Sunday morning eggs and pancakes! When not in use for grilling, the grill can be used for additional cooking space.

You want to make sure your cooktop also has a built-in clock and timer to take the guesswork out of cooking. This could be a digital readout with a buzzer for the timer. Small details make all the difference, whether you're buying a new car or cooktop. It's all about making your life better.

Burner Size

Over the years you may become frustrated with how small your cooktop burners are. A small cooktop can result in pots and pans pushing into each other and in your food cooking unevenly. This might not be so much a problem with your stove as it is with your cooktop design. Consider your four burners. What if they could be bigger but take up the same space on the cooktop? If you have a two six inch burners on each side but over twenty four inches of cooking space, you can get bigger burners! And how do you like the placement of your control knobs? Maybe instead of on the side you prefer them to be in the center. You can have exactly the cooking arrangement you want with the right cooktop.

Gas vs. Electric

The other key component to any cooktop is whether you are going with electric or gas burners. There are plusses with both options. Both types of cooktops should have quick ignition start ups. With the electric cooktop, it will take a few moments to reach the optimum temperature. Often this will mean high, medium or low. With a gas burner you have more control over the regulating of the level of heat. Of course, you can't switch from an electric oven to a gas oven and vice versa. But you can certainly upgrade whichever type of oven you are currently using by swapping out your old cooktop for a newer model.

Getting Your New Cooktop

Replacing the cooktop on your current stove is not at all complicated. In fact it makes upgrading your entire stove a simple task. Surely you've lifted up the cooktop to clean underneath? That's all it takes to switch your cooktop. Out with the old and in with the new. Yes, you will still have to make the proper measurements but like many other appliances and household items, measurements have become standardized. You're sure to find many options to fit your needs.
