Traditional microwaves, which channel heat directly into food molecules, work too quickly to brown, roast, or bake; they are generally used for basic warming more than cooking complex dishes. A convection microwave oven, on the other hand expands on the quick action of microwave heating, adapting it to allow for more complicated recipes to be carried off successfully. The Profile Spacemaker even features an ability to convert traditional cooking times and recipes to the rapid heating microwave capabilities, as well as sensors for calculating the moisture of the food being warmed in order to set the time accordingly.
This 1.7 cu. ft GE Profile Spacemaker microwave convection oven features 1000 microwave watts (IEC test procedure) and 1550 convection watts. It's convection cooking features many convection cooking controls and produces flavorful, beautifully browned results. It's Fast Bake feature uses microwave speed and convection speed to bake and brown foods op to 25% faster than conventional cooking. The microwave oven uses built-in sensors to automatically set power and time based on food moisture levels. It automatically converts standard recipe temperatures to proper convection settings, eliminating the guesswork. The two removable oven racks adds for cooking space flexability and convienience, and it can be used as a warming oven to keep prepared foods exceptionally warm and fresh.

The GE spacemaker microwave convection oven has quick heating abilities, which allows the oven to cook more complicated recipes in lesser time. The oven has 1000 microwave watts and 1550 convection watts. It controls and retains the original flavor & freshness of the food. My sons installed(including removal of the old unit)in less than two hours, which included the time to read the installation instructions. This also included pulling the range out to make room, cleaning the range area, replacing the range and listening to Dad's(me) second guessing. My one son is pretty handy.
We were fortunate in that the unit hung on the previous unit's mounting bracket so that saved some time.
It does take two people to maintain the balance while hanging the unit.
Be aware that there is a plug on the end of the power cord so you need to determine whether you have a dedicated wall socket available in the cabinet over the unit.
My wife has not yet had an opportunity to try out the convection cooking but is looking forward to that.
One disappointment is that 'Time Cook' can only be set in 15 second intervals up to 6 minutes, then 30 second intervals up to 15 minutes, then hourly intervals. We would have preferred seconds intervals at the lower settings.

My previous microwave was a GE and I was able to use the mounting plate of my previous unit. I would have had a very difficult time mounting the flemsy mounting plate that came with the new GE.

This product was exactly what I wanted. Living in a condo, I have limited kitchen space however, I do a fair amount of entertaining. I frequently use my microwave for reheating leftovers. In addition, there have been lots of occasions when I needed a second oven. This product is the answer to my needs. It does both.
There are two things that I think could be improved:
1)I don't like having to remove the rack (used for convection cooking) when I use the microwave. It should be designed with a rack that can be left in during microwaving.
2) The fan is noisy and is always on during convection cooking
That said, neither of these downsides would keep me from recommending the product or buying it again.

Use of appliance is easy. Works just as promised. Would have loved to have had a broiler feature for meats. But browns very well. Also cleared counter space.

I quite like this combination microwave/convection oven, but it's honestly not the best oven. Given that it's so small, when you open the door a lot of heat is lost and the oven doesn't heat back up quick enough, making it hard to bake stuff in.
We use the oven mostly to heat up rolls all crispy, but for serious baking this oven isn't very good.

microwave capability is great, less enthusiastic about the convection part....ran several experiments: half the batter in regular oven, half in the convection...convection cookies were pale by comparison, same with piecrusts, so not my top pick for baking
