Comments about Premier Pro-Series P30S 30"" Gas Range, 4 Sealed Burners, Electronic Ignition, Ev:

We set the stove up ourselves and found this to be fairly easy - Premier customer service was helpful in trouble-shooting. [...] We had to re-position the heat sensor in the oven pilot because it shifted in shipping. They were going to get it serviced but first the technician suggested we look at this sensor and describe its position to him - it was easily moved back into place.I did have to retighten all the screws in the doors and around the oven. Also, the oven floor, which is removable for cleaning, was damaged so it had to be replaced - Premier took care of this immediately[...]The biggest problem we had was putting the gas orifices in the surface burners - the instruction manual was vague about this but after looking at it we realized the sealed burners can be removed with a screw allowing the orifices to be installed easily. We cook three meals a day every day and are happy after 2 months of use. The black top does not show burnt on food around the burners. The grates have not scratched the paint yet - as one review said. The metal is less 'streaky' than a glass top electric stove so it looks pretty neat most of the time - after wiping with a wet cloth, I use a dry cloth to de-streak. It boils water super fast - this was the first thing we did on it. The simmer burner could be even lower - I need to look into adjusting it but for now I am using a cast iron diffuser with some success. We use it on the lowest setting always. The high settings on all of the burners bring the temp. up immediately. I cooked on electric for years so this is a novelty still. Most of the time we cook on medium to low on the regular burners - the knobs are set very precisely - we don't really have to look at the flame anymore to see where to set the knob. The big burner is not only useful for boiling but also for my large iron skillet, because the burner itself has a greater diameter it heats a large pan more evenly and closer to the outside rather than just a small ring at the center. The continuous grates could cover more of the stove - be larger - and this would be safer I think but also more convenient for pushing smaller pans to the back to keep warm.Because the oven vents at the back of the stove-top, it is perfect for holding warm food.We have had good luck in baking so far: bread, cookies, casseroles, meats, biscuits, cornbread, nuts - the temp. goes low so it was easy to toast pecans and it is great for keeping food warm. The oven temp. is set correctly according to my thermometer. It is different from electric because the temp. seems to fluctuate more (my impression could be wrong) but the overall baking works perfectly. I still haven't cooked pizza in it with my stoneware - wish I had before writing this.I never broil so I cannot comment on this; I grill instead so I did bring my griddle inside on one rainy evening and used it on the stove-top which was another use for the larger burner. We haven't gone through summer with it so how hot it will get in the kitchen is an unknown. The oven rack could be heavier - it bows some so I use a large cookie sheet to bake on to keep things level. At Thanksgiving I spread 2 cookie sheets on the rack and put in 2 pies a cobbler and a casserole with no problem. There is no indicator light for the oven or the oven light so we have left it on a couple of times. It is very quiet when it re-lights so we didn't notice it was still on for about an hour. As I said, the oven floor had to be replaced so even though I haven't cleaned it yet, I did remove and replace it - this was easy.As for the value, we are pleased - it was in our price range. Compared to the expensive stainless-steel pro models it is a a great deal - it works fine, it isn't super-heavy-duty but the burners are the same and the grates are cast-iron. I can't compare it to the lower priced mainstream ss pro-type models but I chose this one because it can be lit manually and it has no electronics on it so if our electricity goes out or we go off the grid - no problem. We got the 10 inch stainless back, there are no good pictures of this online so I couldn't tell what it would be like. It cleans easily, like the surface, it doesn't streak like the glass would. It is about 3 1/2 inches deep with a flat surface on top so I put my salt shakers up there - glad we got this, it is useful. The stove is lower than my counters so I had a machine shop make a strip of angled stainless-steel to keep food from falling in the crack; it is screwed into the edge of the counter and comes out over the surface of the stove. I have since seen a silicone one of these in the kitchen dept. of a national discount store. I expected the stove to be taller than my counters but it is only 36 1/8 inches tall. The depth of the stove is greater than my counters, taken at the top surface, the depth is 25 3/8 inches; because it is contoured the overall depth is greater and then the handles and knobs stick out further. It looks nice though, even if it doesn't match the counters.

The only 2 negatives about the oven are that it is a little uneven for baking and that the paint started to peel on the tray under the broiler pan.

But that may have been because I used that pan in the oven for chicken alot, and the paint was exposed to higher heat from the burner than if the pan was there.
